The IPAF Harness Course delivers a minimum of 4 hours instruction and provide delegates with the vital information and understanding on how to Pre use Inspect and Don (fit) a full body harnesses and restraint lanyards when using a range of Mobile Elevated Work Platforms (MEWPS).
Boom Type Platforms
When working from a boom type Mobile Elevating Work Platform (MEWP), it is strongly recommended that a full body harness with an adjustable lanyard be used to provide work restraint. The lanyard should be adjusted to be as short as possible.
It is not normally necessary for personnel working from a Mobile vertical MEWP to wear fall protection equipment, other than in exceptional circumstances. This will be controlled by a site-specific risk assessment.
On this International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) Harness training course you will learn how to select, inspect and use your harness and associated equipment safely when using a MEWP.
IPAF recommends that a full body harness and adjustable lanyard, adjusted to act as an effective restraint system, is used in all boom type MEWPs (category 'B' machines).
On successful completion of the theory test, you will receive an IPAF certificate.
If you hold a valid Powered Access Licence for operating MEWP’s, you can also have the Harness User & Inspection (H) category added to your PAL Card.
Who Should Attend
The IPAF Harness course is designed for anyone who operates a MEWPs and in particular Boom Type MEWPs.
